NIGER Tornadoes captain and goalkeeper Mustapha Aliko is
delighted to win the Man of the Match award after helping his side secure a 1-0
victory over Rivers United in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday
23 clash at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
Attacking midfielder Musa Abdullahi Wakili converted an early minute spot-kick to hand the Ikon Allah Boys the much-needed victory over the Port
Harcourt-based side.
The goalkeeper who made some superb saves to keep his
ninth clean sheet of the season and adjudged as the best player of the
encounter was presented with the award by the Niger Tornadoes Fan's Club
Chairman, Silas Jako immediately after the encounter.
In a chat with sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Aliko who
credited the efforts of his teammates, the technical crew, club staff, with the
support of the fans for the victory, said the team remained focused on getting
a continental ticket at the end of the current season.
“I am happy to keep another clean sheet and at the same
time being named the Man of The Match. It saw a difficult game and Rivers
United showed that they are one of the formidable teams in the country.
“I want to thank my technical crew and the supporting
staffs, Tornadoes fans club, supporters club and also the entire players of Tornadoes
FC for their efforts and my fans out there for your support and prayers. I
promise to continue to give my best at all time in ensuring that we achieve our
aim at the end of the season, which is to secure a continental ticket,” Aliko

The coach Abubakar Bala tutored side are sixth on the log
with 36 points, six behind league leaders Plateau United.
