Head coach of FC IfeanyiUbah, Yaw Preko is refusing to
give up on Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title despite losing 1-0 to
Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC in Sunday’s matchday 22 clash
at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.
Adebayo Waheed's sublime finish ensure the Olukoya Boys
bounced back to winning ways after going three games without a victory and at
the same time put an end to the Anambra Warriors eight-game unbeaten streak.
With the maximum points in their bag, MFM FC moved from
fourth position on the 20-team NPFL table to second with 37 points from 22
league matches, while Ifeanyi Ubah now occupy the fourth spot with 34 points.
In a chat with sportsbiz247.blogspot.com after the
encounter, Preko who said that his side did not border on any record but only
focused on securing victory, believes the flooded pitch did not allow free flow
of football.
“We are not giving up on the title,” begins Preko.
“It’s going to be a very long season and a long second round
and what we want to do is pick up points as much as we can and by the close of
the season we see how it goes.
“Unbeaten was not something that was on our mind. All we
wanted to do is keep on rolling as we were doing. But we stumble and really
didn’t come to the party. I don’t know whether it was the flooded pitch, but we
really struggled. It’s like that, for about eight matches we were not
struggling, today it happens, no problem. We will now go back home and prepare for our next game against ABS on Wednesday,” Preko told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
