AFTER scoring his sixth goal in a Nigeria Professional
Football League (NPFL) matchday 25 encounter against Enyimba at the Lafia
Township Stadium on Sunday, Nasarawa United forward, Abdulrahman Bashir is
optimistic of reaching double-figure goals tally once again this season,
sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Bashir who scored 15 goals last season but has missed about
eight matches this season, no thanks no injury, returned to scoring form by
hunting down his former team to hand the Lafia landlords the three points.
In a chat with sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, the former ABS sensational striker said he is happy to score his sixth goal this season and fourth goal in six
appearances against the People’s Elephant.
“I feel so happy
that I was the one to score the winning goal. This is not the first time I will
score against them. I played against the three times while I was at ABS and
scored two goals. Also I’ve played three times and scored two goals against
them for Nasarawa United. I didn’t want to jubilate when I scored against them
on Sunday, but you know when emotion sets in, you may not be able to hold it. That
was why I had to celebrate a little and then stopped to show my respect to the
team.
“I will give credit to my teammates too for fighting till
the end to ensure that we secure the victory.
“Though I missed like eight matches this season, I still hope
to score up to 10 goals before the end of the season.
“We are fully focused on at least finishing in the top
three if we are not able to secure the title. We will continue to fight till
the end. We want our fans to continue to give us their support and hopefully we
will not disappoint them,” Bashir told sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
