HEARTLAND FC goalkeeper, Ebele Obi, elder brother of
Mikel Obi has backed the Super Eagles captain to lead Nigeria to a glorious outing at the
2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Nigeria will play Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group
D at the World Cup and Ebele in a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, express
confidence that with Mikel leading the team on the pitch and Coach Gernot Rohr
on the touchline, the Super Eagles will shock any of the opponents.
“I know my younger brother, he is very humble, a good
leader and I know he is going to lead our national team to Russia. Not just
leading them but helping them to do well as a person.
“His movement to china was like a dream. He has done what
he supposed to do at Chelsea and just to move to somewhere else, maybe Turkey.
But at the end of the day he moved to china. I’m happy he has done well for the
national team and he has done well for his club. I am so excited he is taking
the national team to the World Cup and I know at the end of the day he will
prove his worth.
“Our group is tough but our Super Eagles is a team full
of surprises. I believe with Coach Gernot Rohr in charge of the team, we are
going to shock any team."
Ebele who helped the Naze
Millionaires clinched promotion back to the top flight from the Southern
Conference of the NNL, said he is fully committed to help the team maintain
their status in the elite division.
“I will do just as I did when we went down to relegation.
A lot of offers were on the table for me. But at the end of the day, I spoke
with my wife and my day and I decided to stay put here. I want to work hard,
work more than I used to before to see if I am going to bring Heartland back to
the Premiership and that was what I did. I will continue to do my best to help
the team remain in the Premier League,” Ebele assured Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
