Tornadoes still a work in progress, says Onuh

By Akeem Lawal
NEWLY appointed Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Erasmus Onuh says the Minna based side are still not a finished product yet despite securing a 2-0 away victory over Kwara United in the Nigeria Professional Football League Match-Day 1 clash on Sunday.

Goals from Eric Frimpong 11' and Ibrahim Babawo 49' gave the Ikon Allah Boys 2-0 victory over the Harmony Boys at the Kwara State Stadium on Sunday.

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, the former ABS and Heartland FC handler, who was appointed just a week to the commencement of the league this season, said he is still studying the players recruited by his predecessor, Abubakar Bala.

“This team is still new and I am trying to put things in order. I am just one week old with the team and maybe the team was lucky or I was lucky today.

“I met a lot of players in the team and I’m still studying them. I am using the ones I am able to filter out from the team. There are still good players in the team and by the time we start playing week-in-week-out, I may have the opportunity to see the rest.

“Kwara played very well, they have good players and I have a lot of respect for coach John Obuh, he was my team mate and he has coached the national team. You know in football, a coach might give certain instructions to the players and when they go onto the pitch, they do something else. Maybe that was what happened to them today.

“Tornadoes still a work in progress, we are still moving. I have only seen Kwara United, I’ve not seen the rest of the premier league team. Maybe next time it will be my own turn. But now we are still on course,” Onuh told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
