Violence kills football, Udi appeals to Akure fans

By Akeem Lawal
SUNSHINE Stars Head Coach, Duke Udi has made a passionate appeal to football fans in in Ondo State to shun any act of violence as they welcome Katsina United to the Akure Township Stadium for Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League Match-Day 2 encounter.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the Owena Waves played later part of last season away from their home ground after being banished to Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode by the League Management Company (LMC) following the unruly behaviour of their players, officials and fans, during their 2-1 home loss to Plateau United in a Match Day 23 fixture.

In a message shared on his Twitter account on Tuesday, Udi, who guided the team to a 10th place finish last season, urged fans to comport themselves and treat the visiting team with good behavior.

“As we look forward to the first home game of the season against @fckatsinaunited, I urge the fans to comport and treat the visiting team with decorum.  Violence kills our football, let's shun it,” Udi said via @duke_udi.

Sunshine Stars kicked off their campaign on a positive note by playing a draw away to Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri last weekend.
