PLATEAU United striker, Kabiru Umar says his main focus
now is to ensure that is team escape relegation at the end of this Nigeria
Professional Football League season after hitting his fifth goal for the club against
Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC last Sunday.
The former Heartland and Kano Pillars hitman was the hero
as his 4th minute strike ensured the Coach Zachary Baraje side overcame Olukoya
Boys 1-0 in NPFL matchday 29 clash decided at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos.
Having played a game more, the win earns the Tin City
side same 36 points with MFM, Niger Tornadoes and 3SC, 12 adrift league leaders
Enugu Rangers.
In a chat with SportingLife after the encounter, Umar who
joined the Jos landlords on loan after featuring for Shooting Stars in the
first round, said he has now discovered his form after experiencing early drought.
“I felt great scoring against MFM, I’m excited because I’ve
been expecting it to happen. It has been tough since I joined Plateau United as
I’ve been struggling to score goals. But I thank God that things have changed
and I’ve beginning to get my rhythm.
“My expectation is for the team to get out of relegation
zone and I hope my goals will help in achieving that. We have been doing well
and I believe we will continue like that,” Umar said.
