Umar hopes goals help Plateau Utd out of relegation

PLATEAU United striker, Kabiru Umar says his main focus now is to ensure that is team escape relegation at the end of this Nigeria Professional Football League season after hitting his fifth goal for the club against Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC last Sunday.


The former Heartland and Kano Pillars hitman was the hero as his 4th minute strike ensured the Coach Zachary Baraje side overcame Olukoya Boys 1-0 in NPFL matchday 29 clash decided at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos.

Having played a game more, the win earns the Tin City side same 36 points with MFM, Niger Tornadoes and 3SC, 12 adrift league leaders Enugu Rangers.

In a chat with SportingLife after the encounter, Umar who joined the Jos landlords on loan after featuring for Shooting Stars in the first round, said he has now discovered his form after experiencing early drought.   

“I felt great scoring against MFM, I’m excited because I’ve been expecting it to happen. It has been tough since I joined Plateau United as I’ve been struggling to score goals. But I thank God that things have changed and I’ve beginning to get my rhythm. 

“My expectation is for the team to get out of relegation zone and I hope my goals will help in achieving that. We have been doing well and I believe we will continue like that,” Umar said.
