Nwakali departs for London, eager to play for Wenger

NIGERIAN starlet Kelechi Nwakali departed the shores of the country to London on Monday to complete his long-awaited move to Arsenal, SportingLife reports.

The 18-year-old with his elder brother who also serves as intermediary, Allwell Nwakali and mother traveled aboard Arik Airline 12 noon flight via Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The Flying Eagles captain who has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium since the start of the year told SportingLife his dream has always been to play for Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger.

The player of the tournament at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup however believes with hard work and being disciplined, he would break into the team.

“First of all I thank God for what is happening. I’m leaving Nigeria for London to play for Arsenal and it is a dream comes true. Every player wants to play in the highest level and all I want to tell Nigerians is that I’m going to make them proud with hard work and being disciplined as well.

“Arsene Wenger has being my coach because I’ve always dream to play for him and going to Arsenal, my aim and desire is the play for him.

“In Arsenal, you can’t just start playing in the team without working hard and doing the right thing. Everything has plan in life. My aim of going into Arsenal is to play and I believe it’s only hard work and being disciplined that will make me to achieve that and I have it at the back of my mind.

“So I’m promising Nigerias that I am going there to make them proud,” he told SportingLife.
