Mainz 05 defender, Leon Balogun believes his team showed great character and team spirit despite the 2-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in
their Bundesliga season opener.
The Nigerian international, who made 21 Bundeliga
appearances for the Carnival club last
season, was in action for the entire duration of the match played in front of
81,360 spectators at a sold-out Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The 28 year old said the team will now be looking forward
to their next game at home against Hoffenheim after the international break on
September 11.
“We might have lost, but there's no need for
disappointment today - great character, great team spirit. That's the way -
looking forward to the next game at home now @1fsvmainz05 #BVBM05 #Bundesliga

on his Instagram page.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored both goals (17, 89) to
make it a winning start for the Black and
Yellows.
The Gabon international scored firstly from a header
following a wonderful cross from André Schürrle and secondly from the spot late
on.
Yoshinori Mutu (90+2) did pull one back for Mainz but it
was nothing more than late consolation for the visitors.
