HAPOEL Be’er Sheva midfielder, John Ogu is already
looking forward to exciting matches in the group stage of the Europa League
after they were drawn in Group K alongside Inter Milan, Southampton and Sparta
Prague.
The draw for the group stage, which will take place
between September 15 and December 8, was held in Monaco on Friday.
Reacting to the draw, Ogu who will be campaigning for The
Camels alongside compatriot, Anthony Nwakaeme said he is excited to play
against the former UEFA Champions League winner, Inter Milan.
“Inter Milan, Sparta Praha, Southampton, Hapoel beer
sheva. GROUP K. Great year of football. #Excited”, the Nigerian international said via his official
Twitter handle, @ogujohnugo.
Before the draw Ogu, who was voted the best foreign
player in the Israeli Ligat HaAl last season, had said he hopes his Israeli
club are drawn against English Premier League giant, Manchester United in the
group stage of the competition so as to fulfill his childhood dream of playing
against a big clubside.
“Please @EuropaLeague, Kindly help my club Hapoel Be’er Sheva with @ManUtd in group stage. Thank you Very much ππ.
“When I was young, the dream was to play against big club
side."
Despite a 2-0 home win over Scottish side Celtic in the
Champions League play-offs, Beer Sheva failed to make it through, losing 5-4 on
aggregate after losing the first leg at Celtic Park 5-2. Ogu still feels the
pain.
“The game at Celtic park against Celtic is still fresh. Amazing
atmosphere with about 60.000 fans. Experience I will tell my grandchild.
“Not making it to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League
still hurt more after watching the draws today ππ. I
think God has a much bigger plan for me in the future..ππ.”
