Tokyo 2020: Ekeoma calls for corporate support for para-badminton



PRESIDENT of Nigeria Para-Badminton Federation, Samuel Ekeoma has appealed to corporate bodies and individuals with passion for persons with disabilities to partner with the federation in featuring at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. 


The appeal is coming after the International Paralympic Committee approved the inclusion of Badminton games for the disabled in the next Paralympic Games in 2020 in Japan. 

Ekeoma said the partnership would ensure such organizations and individuals make the players as brands in promoting their companies in the 2016 to 2020 national and international games. 

He said the Para-badminton Federation of Nigeria and Paralympic Committee of Nigeria being the apex body in control of disabled sports in the country is poised to ensure winning more medals in 2020 Games with para-badminton (disabled Badminton).

"I am using this medium to appeal to our well meaning cooperate and individual entities in Nigeria with passion for persons with disabilities to kindly come to partner with para-badminton in Nigeria as we ensure a branding and promotion of their companies in our 2016-2020 National and international games", Ekeoma added.

He expressed optimism that with the necessary support the federation would win laurels for the country both at national and international scenes.

The president disclosed that the first ever National Para-badminton championship took place in Umahia, Abia state in 2014 with seven States participating while the 2nd edition of the championship was held in the same state with improved 12 states from the six geopolitical zones took part in the event.
