AGAINST the backdrop of the reported road mishap which involved members of the supporters club of Akwa utd FC of Uyo on their way to honour a week 33 NPFL league match against Enyimba FC of Aba in Portharcourt.
The football Club Owners Association of Nigeria have
expressed shock over the incident which claimed the life of one of the members
and have sent a sympathy message to the club even as it prayed for the quick
recovery of other members who sustained various degrees of injuries.
Club Owners in a statement jointly signed by the chairman
Barr. Isaac Danladi and the executive secretary Alloy Chukwuemeka urged the
management of the Uyo based club to see the incident as an act of God even as
it expressed hope that those injured were responding to treatment and would
soon be discharged from the hospital.
Although one of the members in the ill-fated vehicle lost
his life, the Association described his death as shocking and unfortunate and
prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and to console his family.
Meanwhile the LMC had ordered that a minute silence be
observed in all the centres of the week 33 games as a mark of respect for the
deceased supporter.
