Onazi thanks Lazio fans after sealing €5m Trabzonspor move

By Akeem Lawal
NIGERIA international, Ogenyi Onazi has expressed his appreciation to SS Lazio fans after completing his move to Turkish Super League side, Trabzonspor.

The Super Eagles vice captain, who spent five seasons at Stadio Olimpico, put pen to paper on a four-year-deal worth €5m with Trabzonspor on Tuesday, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

According to La Repubblica, an agreement over the transfer was reached between all parties weeks ago, but the instability and turmoil of recent events in Turkey has prevented the deal from going through.

Onazi’s agent Ayodele Makinwa however announced the completion of the deal via his Instagram page by uploading a picture of the player while signing the contract.

“Thank God for another successful move... @onaziogenyi is officially a player of Trabzonspor...,” the former Super Eagles striker said along with the picture."

Onazi immediately responded to the message via the same medium saying, “Yes oh big thanks to the silent but hard working agent @makoz83 👏🏻👏🏻 I know we are just starting. No duling👌👌👌,” he posted.

While thanking Lazio fans for the memorable years spent together, the 23 year old said, “When it all started 5 years ego. Big thanks to all the great LaZio fans who stood by me when the time was rough and when we all smile. God bless you all. I will always be praying for you all.

Some of the Lazio fans also appreciated the contribution of the Nigerian to the club.

A fan with the Instagram account @Pabloescobarinho said, “One of the few players that always gave everything on the pitch and has never caused controversies. Thank you very much and wish you the best of luck in turkey!”.

Another fan @alis_2702I posted, “Just Wanna thank you for everything you've done...You are a great player and a great guy....good luck for this new adventure and FORZA LAZIO ⚪️🔵💪🏻”.

Onazi joined Lazio from My People in 2011 and has since made over 100 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side.

The Nigerian only started 14 times in Serie A last season, though, and does not feature in Simone Inzaghi's plans for 2016-17.
