NIGERIAN'S Divine Ejowvokoghene Oduduru failed to qualify for the men’s 200m final after finishing 7th in heat 2 of the semi-finals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Thursday.
The reigning Nigerian 200m champion competed in the race
with Jamaica’s Usain Bolt and Canada’s Andre Grasse, but could not create an
upset like he did in his first semi-finals race where he finished 0.06 seconds
behind Bolt.
The Jamaican superstar easily won the race, clocking in a
season’s best 19.78s, while Grasse took the second automatic qualification
spot, running a new Canadian national record of 19.80s.
Running in Lane 7, Oduduru clocked in 20.59s to cross the
finish line, which incidentally was not good enough for him to compete in the
final.
It was the second time at the Rio Olympics that Oduduru
ran against Bolt, after the pair met in the first round heats on Tuesday.
