Yobo: Amodu was more than just a coach to me

FORMER Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo says the death of Shuaibu Amodu is hard pill to swallow because the late national team handler meant more than just a coach to him.

The former BCC Lions, El-Kanemi Warriors, Shooting Stars and Orlando Pirates technician died in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday, after complaining of chest pains on Friday night.

Yobo, who also played under Amodu for the Super Eagles took to his official Twitter handle @jyobo234 to eulogize his late coach.

“My hearts bleeds. Shuaibu Amodu gone. Rest in Peace Coach. What is happening to us? #RIPAmodu.

“I'm devastated, shocked, and gutted by this. Amodu meant more to me than just my coach #RIPAmoduShuaibu.

“He made me believe the National team was built around me and if I played well, we will win games #RIPAmoduShuaibu.

“Amodu gave me so much personal advice about life, was always there to help even if I didn't talk to him about my issues #RIPAmoduShuaibu.

“Words can't put it together, he will be greatly missed. My heart and thoughts are with his family at this terrible time #RIPAmoduShuaibu", Yobo said.

Amodu who was present during the world press conference announcing the Joseph Yobo’s Centenary and Testimonial match held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in March (picture above), was also a guest during the game proper played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka International Stadium in Port Harcourt on March 27.
