Go Round, Prime talk tough ahead of NNL clash

GO Round Football Club of Omoku, and Prime Football Club will square up on Saturday evening in a Nigeria National League Week 5 battle at the Krisdera Stadium, Omoku.

It's a huge game for the both teams who are in much need of a win to boost their confidence of securing the sole promotion ticket of NNL Group B1.

Go Round have done quite well for themselves against Prime so far, as they have defeated the Omoluabi Giants in their two meetings at the Krisdera Stadium with same score-line 1-0.

A loss to Go Round would be extremely devastating for the Omoluabi Giants promotion hopes.

Prime will attempt to continue their strong run as the 'Believe and Achieve' side are unbeaten in their last two games and are in better shape now than they were earlier in the campaign.

Shina Afolabi wards are fourth on the NNL standings with 3 points behind table topper, Delta Force, while Go Round are third on the log with a goal difference with Prime FC.

Afolabi said though he is not happy to miss the service of stand-in captain, Olabisi Olagunju, and inspiring attacker, Lekan Oseolohun, to malaria and boil respectively, he has a better replacement for the duo.

“They are very good players but it is unfortunate what has happened. The team is not built around any one player, as we have several players that can come in and do the job we want. I would say we have adequate replacements for every position in the team,” Afolabi told Prime FC media.

For Coach Ngozi Elechi, Go Round FC will have to beat Prime in Omoku if they want to gain promotion to the NPFL next season.

According Elechi, a win against fellow title contenders will boost their chances.

“The players know the only way we can turn the table around is to win all our home games, including away from home.

“We are confident that we can beat Prime this weekend because we know we cannot drop points at home,” Elechi said.
