Young Dynamos claim U-15 Henry Ajomale Cup

YOUNG Dynamos Football Club defeated Adeomo FC of Ogba 4-3 on penalties in the final to emerge winner of the 6th annual edition of the U-15 Henry Ajomale Cup football competition held at the Campus Mini Stadium in Ajele area of Lagos last weekend.

The highly entertaining encounter ended goalless in the normal regulation period.

In the third place match, Lobo Babes of Mile 2 also defeated Alisco FC of Agbado 5-3 on penalties after playing 1-1 at full time.


For their efforts, Dynamos FC got the sum of N1 million, while Adeomo FC went home with N750,000. Lobo Babes were rewarded with N500,000, while Alisco FC were N250,000 richer despite finishing 4th.


In his remarks the sponsor of the competition Chief Henry Ajomale, Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, who used this year's edition to celebrate his 72nd birthday said this type of competition is used to engage the young ones positively.


"I looked around and saw lots of younger generation unoccupied and most of the time if you leave them doing nothing, you are creating opportunities for devil's workshop.


"I want to keep them busy so that they can become someone tomorrow. Some of the area boys, when we started we were encouraging them. I thank God one of them came out to testify that he used to be one of the area boys,  but now he is a coach at U-15 Henry Ajomale Cup. This is an encouragement with the fact the three of the boys who passed through us in the national team today. Only God knows where they can get to, they can be Joseph Yobo of tomorrow.

"That is why we will continue to promote them. I pray to God to spare my life, I will continue to assist the younger generation to stay occupied and encourage them to become whatever they want to become tomorrow,” the APC chieftain said.
