By Our Reporter THE Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has been described as the best friend of the Nigeria youths even as the 8th Senate had continued to legislate on youths friendly bills, sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The Director of Football ABS FC Ilorin, Alloy Chukwuemeka stated this in Ilorin Friday while receiving the members of the organizing Committee for the maiden edition of the Senate President Unity Cup championship in his office.
The Organisers of the maiden edition of 'Senate President Unity Cup' were on a courtesy visit to ABSFC office to solicit support for a successful hosting of the football championship.
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Alhaji Abdulrauf Abdulsalam, said the visit was to brief the Club on the task ahead to organise a befitting competition.
He stated that the tournament is designed to discover hidden talents and also to empower the Nigerian youths using football through the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
Responding, the ABS Director of Football, promised the committee adequate and undiluted support as well as logistics where needed.
He also stated that the Senate President is the best friend of Nigerian Youths, even as he added that over 50% of the bills passed by the 8th Senate under Saraki were youths friendly bills aimed at advancing the growth and development of the youths.
He stressed further that aside the avalanche of the Youths friendly bills, the recent passage of the 'Not too young to run' bill was unprecedented.
Chukwuemeka urged the committee to endeavour to organize a befitting tournament and to be transparent in all they do by carrying all the participants and other relevant stakeholders along.
The director of football said ABSFC club was a platform created by the Senate President to empower the youths through football, stressing that many players have passed through the club to stardom.
The tournament Secretary, Mr Rasheed Saraki, thanked Chukwuemeka for his support to youth development in the state.
He said the committee will adhere strictly to every advice given to them in order to make the tournament a success.
