SUPER Eagles began their
preparation for this weekend’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles
by playing footvolley on the beach of Victoria, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Essentially, footvolley is
beach volleyball except players are not allowed to use their hands and a football
replaces the volleyball.
Some of the players in camp
were seen engaged in the practice session in a 21 seconds video uploaded on the
Twitter handle of the Super Eagles.
“Foot-Volleyball as training
kicks off ahead of #Seychelles clash. #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong #SEYNGA,”
said on the verified Twitter account, @NGSuperEagles.
Players in camp include Henry
Onyekuru, Kenneth Omeruo, Simeon Nwankwo, Joel Obi, Kelechi Nwakali, Bryan Idowu,
Semi Ajayi, Samuel Kalu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Francis Uzoho, Chidozie
Awaziem.
Gernot Rohr’s men lost their
opening game in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against
South Africa in Uyo.
The team will hope to gain
maximum points when they play against Seychelles at the 10,000-capacity Stade
Linité on Saturday at 1:30 pm (4:30 pm Seychelles time).
Seychelles are bottom of the
AFCON qualifying group after they lost their opening game to Libya 5-1.
