THE management of Plateau
United Football Club of Jos has challenged its players to strive hard and win
this year’s Aiteo Cup competition in order to represent Nigeria in the CAF
Confederations Cup next year.
General Manager of the club,
Pius Henwan threw the challenge while addressing the players shortly before
their departure to Gombe where are they scheduled to face Yobe Desert Stars on
Sunday in the round of 32 fixtures of this year's Aiteo Cup competition.
Henwan urged the players to
take the encounter seriously noting that there are no minnows in the
competition following the exit of big teams in the round 64 of the competition.
He explained that management
will continue to motivate the players by the prompt payments of all their
entitlemrnt and appealed to them to reciprocate the gesture by putting up
scintillating performances to win the trophy.
The general manager who
spoke through the media officer of the club, Albert Dakup, said management will
continue to create the enabling environment for them to thrive and challenged
them to always give their best in order to justify the confidence of their
coaches, management and the people of Plateau State.
On the delay in the payment
of the cash reward promised the team for winning the Nigeria Professional
Football League title last year, the General manager urged the players to
exercise little patience as efforts are on to pay them soon.
Henwan noted that since his
inception as general manager of the club, he has being up to date in the
payment of salaries, match bonus and other entitlements, stressing that this
one is not going to be an exception as the Rescue Administration of Governor Simon Lalong will keep it's promise.
He appealed to the players
not to allow the cash reward derail their focus ahead of the round 32 of the
Aiteo Cup against Yobe Stars, assuring that management is not sleeping over the
matter.
