Kano Pillars technical adviser, Ibrahim Musa has said
that the team will go for maximum points against Rivers United in the Aiteo Cup
Group C opener billed for Agege Stadium
by 2pm on Monday.
Rivers United defeated Pillars 1-0 at home before
securing a draw in Kano at the just ended NPFL season and Musa told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com that his players are looking forward to revenge the four points loss to their
opponent.
“We won our first and second match and we are in group
stage. This is the toughest group because all the teams are in premier league.
So we have to do all we can to ensure that we qualify as first or second to the
quarter final.
“Rivers is a very good team and if you check they got
four points against us because we lost 1-0 in Rivers and played 1-1 in Kano.
“When my players saw that we are playing Rivers first,
they were happy because they see this as an opportunity to revenge.
“Our target is to win the league. If you look at the
history of the un-concluded League, we are the team that has more away matches
and no team got more away draws like Kano Pillars. No team scored more goals
like Kano Pillars and we produced the top scorer. With Enyimba, we are the two
teams to get a loss in the league out of 24 matches. We draw 10 and won 10 and
seven away draws. So if you look at the history, we had the opportunity to win
the league, but God says no and we give Him the glory. Out target now is to win
the Aiteo Cup, Insha Allah,” Musa told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
