In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Azeez who last featured for Enugu Rangers in the just concluded season said the aim of the event is to celebrate the stars of the NPFL who are based in Lagos.

“The event is about NPFL players based in Lagos. So as the season has ended, we are waiting for the Federations Cup to be concluded too so that everybody will come back and play like exhibition game. At the end of the day, the aim is to be playing it every year in a bigger way so that we can recognize ourselves and also encourage the upcoming players. Not that our fans will only be seeing us in our clubs, let us come together once in a while, so that we can give back to our immediate environment.

“As we speak now, we are like 42 players registered and we are still aiming to add more before we conclude registration by the end of this week. It is for NPFL players who reside in Lagos. It is not specifically born in Lagos. You might not be from Lagos State, but you are based in the state. As long as you are playing in NPFL, you are qualified.

"It’s a day event and we are having two options at the moment. I and my colleagues are thinking and one of the best way and one of the ways would be to play against a team on that day. The other option is that we would play against ourselves. So we are still contemplating on the best that would make it suitable for us. Matchroom is our consultant and we are thinking or partnering either Cone Sports, Hagai Sports or Owu Sportwear but we have not concluded yet for the jerseys,” the former 3SC and Enyimba forward told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
