Abia Warriors suspend Ndifreke

By Akeem Lawal
THE management of Nigeria Professional Football League side Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has announced the immediate suspension of its striker, Ndifreke Effiong for gross misconduct, indiscipline and disrespect.

In a letter addressed to the player and signed by the club Secretary, Mr. Oliver Ndife, said management took the decision after an emergency meeting during which the offences against him were established and directed him to leave the team’s hotel in Lagos immediately as well as exit the club’s camp in Umuahia.

Recall that Ndifreke was shown a straight red for a reckless foul during the 5-1 humiliating loss suffered in the hands of their NPFL counterparts Kwara United in their first Aiteo Cup Group C match in Lagos.

Abia Warriors however bounced back from the loss to defeat Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.

The Umuahia-based outfit still has a chance to progress into the quarter final of the completion if they beat Rivers United in Friday’s last group game and hope Kwara United defeat Kano Pillars in the other match.
