FORMER Nigeria
international, Daniel Amokachi has backed the Super Eagles to spring up
surprises at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Nigeria will face
Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D at the world’s showpiece and in a
chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, the former Everton and Beşiktaş striker commended the
Nigeria Football Federation for preparing the team with top friendly matches
against Poland, Serbia, DR Congo, England and Czech Republic.
“The friendlies are very
important. We have to commend the football administration for putting five
games in three months to the World Cup is huge. It hasn’t been done in a while and
they are very good competitive games.
“We started with Argentina
and we are playing, Poland, Serbia and so on. So it a good course for the manager,
a good opportunity for him to see which player he needs to bring in, which one
to drop but the most important thing is for us to keep praying that we end up
with players who are injury free when it comes to the World Cup.
“We have quality in the
team, we have professionalism in the team, all we need is good-luck and God to
lay His hands on us Nigeria as a team for us to record success in Russia.
“I don’t have much advise
now because anything I say will be thrown under the carpet because the coach
knows what he wants and the players know what he wants. For us is just to keep
praying for the team to be injury free and go and explore the world because
this is a very beautiful year and we will do wonders at the World Cup,” Amokachi
who represented the Super Eagles at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup
tournaments told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
