NIGERIAN boxer, Larry 'The Natural' Ekundayo returned to title-winning
form at the weekend, and promptly revealed that he is looking to get a major
title fight very soon.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the London-based former African welterweight champion and
Prizefighter winner defeated Adam Grabiec of Poland in one of the high profile
battle at MTK Global's 'High Stakes' fight card in Brentwood Centre in Essex,
London on Saturday night.
Judges scored the contest 60-54points in favour of
Ekundayo as he recorded his first win since he suffered his first pro loss,
dropping a split-decision to world-title challenger Gary Corcoran in July last
year. The WBO Intercontinental title fight saw the Nigerian also sustained a
broken hand and has been out of action since then following surgery.
In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Ekundayo, who said
he feels great to be back in the ring, revealed that he used the bout to test
his right hand.
“I feel great going back to the ring. Even though I could
have knocked him out if I wanted to, but I used him as a target practice
instead. That’s why few times when I hurt him I waited a bit for him to recover
and continue try my right hand and see how is holding after the surgery.
“On my next step, with boxing you never know. But we are
looking to get a major title. I want to thank every single person that came out
to support me at the weekend and all the well wishers. Words can’t describe how
much gratitude I have towards all for their love and support,” Ekundayo told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
The night also saw another Nigerian-born Daniel Aziz defeat
Craig Nicholson in the Light Heavyweight bout action by technical knock-out in
the 3rd Round and Ekundayo believes the young boxer is one for the future.
“That was a good
test for Aziz on his 2nd professional bout. A lot of fighter wouldn’t take that
risk at the early stage their career. But Aziz is the one to watch out for,
that kid is going places,” Ekundayo told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
