Owoeri delighted to win Swedish Cup

FORMER junior international, John Owoeri is delighted to win the Swedish Cup with BK Hacken.

The former Enyimba and Heartland forward was in action as BK Hacken defeated Malmo FF 6-5 on penalties in the Swedish Cup final on Thursday evening.


The game played at the Swedbank Stadion in Sweden's capital - Malmo ended 2-2 at the regulation time.

Malmo took a 2-0 first-half lead through Markus Rosenberg and Magnus Eikrem but the former Ghana U17 captain – Nasiru Mohammed, equalised both goals after scoring within five minutes in the second-half (61st and 66th minutes) to cancel the lead.

Owoeri made a cameo appearance coming in as a 91st minute substitute for Alexander Jeremejeff.

The 29 year old uploaded a picture posing with the trophy on his Instagram page and wrote, “#starboy champion God is great.”


Having secured the Swedish Cup, Hacken will now compete in the in the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League.
