OPEIFA HANDBALL CUP: Onike Girls Junior School on course to defend title

THE defending champions of the Lagos Secondary Schools Handball Championship, tagged ‘Opeifa Cup’, Onike Girls Junior School on Tuesday defeated St. Luke Junior School 6-1 to remain on course in their title defense.


The competition organised by the Lagos State Handball Association and sponsored by former Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Comrade Kayode Opeifa also saw Lagos Progressive Junior School out scored Pholex Private School 2-1 in the secondary game.

Also victorious was Birrel Avenue School that beat Rockford International School 7-5 even as Lagos African Church Grammar School defeated Ikosi Senior High School 2-0.

In other matches decided on Tuesday, Xplanter Group of Schools worked-over Imoye Senior School while Lagos State Kankor School trashed Angus Memorial School 5-0 leaving the match involving Lagos Progressive School and Whitesand College to end 6-1 infavour of Whitesand while Aunty Ayo International School ended their game with Lagos Progressives at 3-3.

With a total of 51 matches slated for Wednesday at the Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, Royalty Baptist School will engage Ikosi Senior Grammar School while Ajangbadi Senior High School will lock horns with Government High School.  Wahab Folawiyo Senior School will engage Xplanter Group of Schools while Angus Memorial School battles Wesley Girls Senior School.
