NNL: Prime coach satisfied with 1-0 victory over UNICEM

PRIME Football Club started the 2015/2016 Nigeria National League on a winning note with a 1-0 win over newcomers, UNICEM Rovers Football Club of Calabar.

The Omoluabi Giants produced a master class performance but were too shy in front of goal.

The game lived up to the expectation of soccer fans at the Stadium as the both sides embarked upon mass attack, mass defence.

Prime created more chances and dominated ball possession but were wasteful in front of goal as the game ended goalless in the first half.

Hakeem Olalere was the hero for Prime scoring the lone goal in the 62nd minute to seal a crucial victory for the 'Believe and Achieve' side at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.

Former Crown attacker, Adeyemi Adeyeye, who came in as a second half substitute got into the act of terrorizing UNICEM defence line which resulted in Lekan Agunloye setting up Hakeem Olalere to score from a fierce shot which caught the goalkeeper unaware.

UNICEM had their opportunities too but a lackluster performance from their strikers let them down on several occasions.

Speaking with newsmen after the match, Prime gaffer, Shina Afolabi, expressed satisfaction with the important victory and rued missed chances. He then promised to address the team's wasteful act in attack before the next game.

UNICEM coach, Caleb Esu, described Prime as a compact team and expressed optimism his team will get better in their next game at home to COD United.

It remains to be seen how Prime will go this season but the prospects of a better season than last are promising.

Prime will next weekend face Delta Force away at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, Ogwashukwu in the NNL Week 2 fixtures.
