"The aims and objectives of the tourney is to give these grassroot players and coaches a platform to exhibit their talents and skills.

"To curb social vices among the youths in Igando and other Local Government Development Areas (LCDA) as they will use the period to channel their energies to doing meaningful things. Playing football or supporting their respective teams as football is a universal sport and the talents are in grassroot.

"There will be handsome cash rewards, trophies, medals and set of jerseys will be presented to the four best teams, while players who showed brilliance on the pitch will go with individual awards.

"Three players who distinguish themselves in the tourney will also have a chance to have trials with a top Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) team."

The 30 teams were paired in six groups from A to F. Last edition champion, Aje United will begin its title defense against Oluomo FC in the opening game of the tourney.
