NIGERIA Customs Service Volleyball men’s team served off their their campaign at the 2019 Zone 3 Africa Volleyball Club Championships on a winning note by thrashing Nigeria Immigration Service volleyball team 3-0 at the Sports Hall of the University of Lagos on Monday, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Customs proved too much for the Immigration as they dominate all the three sets winning (25-11, 25-18, 25-20).
Speaking with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com after the victory, assistant coach of the Nigeria Customs Service Kafas Eric said his team capitalized on the weakness of their opponents.
“It is really great to start with a win and I believe we will continue the way by the grace of God.
“It was not an easy game, these are the players we’ve known. We knew their strength, we knew their weaknesses. So we capitalized on their their weaknesses and work more on their strengths to defeat them. The boys also played according to the instructions of the coaches too.”
Eric said Customs will put up a more improved performance when they take on Finance of Benin on Tuesday in the matchday 2.
“Our next game will be better than this. Our boys suffered from fatigue because we came to Lagos late. Before tomorrow’s match, they would have loosen up. We will put up an improved performance tomorrow,” Eric assured.
In other matches played on Monday, Nigeria Police defeated Entente of Benin 3-0 (25-17, 25- 17, 25-19), while Ghana Police beat OTR of Togo 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23).
In the women’s event, Nigeria Customs Service defeated Kada Emeralds 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-13), while Nigeria Army also beat Ghana Police 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21).
