Teenage sensation Adejubu feels no pressure on NPFL debut

By Akeem Lawal
SUNSHINE Stars whizkid, Ayo Adejubu says he felt excited after making his much awaited Nigeria Professional Football League debut for Sunshine Stars in a 2-0 victory over Katsina United on Monday.

Second half goals from Dayo Ojo and Fuad Ekelojuoti gave the Owena Whales the victory the NPFL matchday 8 encounter played at the Akure Township Stadium.

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, the youngster said he did not feel any pressure when he was introduced into the game.

“It was a moment of joy for me when my coach told me to warm up. I feel delighted that after making the bench on our last home match and away game at Tornadoes, I finally made my debut, especially in front of home fans.

“When I came in I was a little bit scared, but after two successful touches I felt no pressure. I thank God that the goals came in after I was introduced to the game.

“I want to express my appreciation to the coaching crew led by Coach Dogo who is like a father to me for the opportunity. They all gave me the confidence because they believe in me. I promise not to let them and the fans down whenever I am given such opportunity,” Adejubu told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.

Adejubu, who was introduced into the game, replacing Chibundu Amah in the 64th minute made immediate impact as Dayo Ojo broke the deadlock with a powerful strike from inside the area, before Fuad Ekelojuoti then took the game beyond the visitors in stoppage time with a tap home for Sunshine Stars' second of the game and his forth of the season.
