NIGER Tornadoes goalkeeper, Aliko Mustapha hopes the Minna-based outfit can maintain the winning momentum when the face MFM FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 8 encounter billed for Agege Stadium on Sunday.
The Ikoh Allah recorded its first victory of the season by beating Sunshine Stars 1-0 in the match day seven of NPFL, played at the late Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, Minna, Thursday.
While savouring the victory over Sunshine Stars, Aliko expressed confidence that the team can get a favourable result in Lagos.
“The victory over Sunshine Stars didn’t come on a platter of gold, we had to give our all to earn it. It was a tough encounter, but we thank God for the victory. We didn’t start the league as planned but we hope to continue after securing our first victory of the season.
“We left Minna immediately after our game against Sunshine Stars and we entered Lagos on Friday evening. Hopefully we will be able to recover very well and ready for the match.
“Lagos is a very good place to play because Lagosians like good football. No matter where you come from, if you come to Lagos and play good football, they will applause you. MFM are very good side too, they are one of the youngest side in the league. We will give in a shot and you know in football, anything can happen,” Aliko told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
Aliko, who kept 14 clean sheets to help Niger Tornadoes finished sixth in the 2017/2018 NPFL season said the players are enjoying a good relationship with the club’s Interim Technical Adviser, Coach Hamza Abdulazeez Abarah, who guided the team to a nine match unbeaten run while he took charge of the team last season.
