Nigeria's female skeleton
athlete, Simidele Adeagbo is set to make another history as the first Nigerian
to compete at the
International Bobsleigh and
Skeleton Federation IBSF Skeleton Intercontinental Cup at
the Olympic Park, USA, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Adeagbo is Nigeria and
Africa’s first female skeleton athlete, as well as the first black female
athlete in the sport of skeleton.
The two-day IBSF Skeleton
Intercontinental Cup is a skeleton only circuit, with bobsleigh not featuring.
It sits below the World Cup but above the Europa Cup and North American Cup in
terms of sliding standard.
As the first Nigerian to
compete in the Winter Olympics, where she featured at the Women's Skeleton at
the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, the 37 year old is
looking forward to the history-making event.
“Ready to make history as
the 1st Nigerian to compete in an @ibsfsliding Intercontinental Cup race! I'll
be competing with some of the world's best! So proud to be representing Team Nigeria
🇳🇬 and continue to break barriers! 2 days to go!✌🏿“,
she posted on her Twitter handle.
This international skeleton
event features the best up and coming young skeleton athletes from around the
world.
