Uzoho undergoes successful surgery

Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has undergone a successful surgery on his injured Achilles his Cypriot club, Omonia Nicosia have confirmed.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the Nigeria international, who is on loan from Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna, suffered the horrific injury during an international friendly match between Nigeria and Brazil at the Singapore’s National Stadium last month.

The 21-year-old was stretchered off in the second half of the encounter after he landed badly on his leg while trying to deal with a cross.



The operation was carried out by the Spanish side’s traumatologist, Rafael Arriaza.
A club statement read: Our team's goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, was successfully treated. The Spanish La Coruna, owner of the player issued a statement shortly after informing of Uzoho’s successful operation. Now, after the surgery, Francis will launch a special recovery program to return to normal racing.

“It must be taken for granted that Uzoh will not play again this season.”

The Nigerian goalkeeper, who uploaded his picture after his surgery on his Instagram page, gave glory to God Almighty for a successful operation.

"And it was a success, I’m grateful to Every Prayer and Good wishes Said, Even the hidden Prayers said on My Behalf... I’m deeply grateful.. Now let the Healing Begin. IN CHRIST ALONE," he said along with the picture.

Meanwhile, Fortuna Dusseldorf II goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye who replaced Uzoho during the friendly against Brazil, said the team dedicated the 2-1 victory of Squirrels of Benin in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers to his recuperating colleague.

“I spoke with Uzoho yesterday (Wednesday), we talked a bit, had a little chat and I wish him great surgery because his surgery is today (Thursday) and this win was for him. By God’s grace, everything will go on well with him and he will be back soon,” Okoye said.
