FORTUNA Dusseldorf of Germany goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye insists he is happy to be patient for his chance to become Super Eagle's No 1 goalkeeper, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

The shot-stopper, who made his debut in an international friendly against Brazil last month, was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Benin in the 2021 AFCON qualifier at the Akpabio Stadium on Wednesday.

Speaking with Sportszone on Thursday, the 20-year-old said he will continue to work harder as he awaits his time in the team.

“I’m just working hard and waiting for my opportunity to get. The coaches put a lot of trust in me and I am patiently waiting for my chance. I will take the opportunity definitely.

“I’m having a great and positive experience with the national team. It’s a moment I have for life and I enjoy every second with the national team.

“It is a blessing from God that I can be here with the national team. I came here for the first time when I was six years old and came back as a national team player. So It’s a big blessing for me, I love this country and can’t wait to get back here.

”The 20-year-old hails the team for securing the maximum points against the Squirrels, said the team is focused on the next game against Lesotho on Sunday.

“Football is not always beautiful, the important thing is the three points. The team fought very well. We knew in the beginning it won’t be a beautiful game like maybe like Ukraine or Brazil. The most important thing is the three points and we are looking forward to the next game,” he said.
