HEAD Coach of the Nigeria's beach soccer team, Super Sand
Eagles, Audu Adamu says the just concluded Copa Lagos tournament is a good
preparation for his side ahead of the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup
scheduled to hold in Paraguay between 21st November and 1st December.
The Sand Eagles finished second at the Copa Lagos after
beating Brazil 7-5 in the final match held at the Eko Atlantic, Victoria
Island, Lagos on Sunday.
In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Adamu said the team has
shifted their attention to the World Cup where they will face Portugal, Brazil
and Oman in Group D.
“I did not feel bad that we did not win the Copa Lagos
tournament. The competition is very good for the team as I used it to test my
players that will be going for the FIFA World Cup.
“The Copa Lagos normally holds in December and we thank
the organisers, Kinetic Sports for bringing it forward to November so that it
could serve as our preparation for the World Cup. Now I have my team from the
tournament and we are going to correct all the lapses we noticed before we go
to Paraguay. Most of the goals we conceded were gifts to our opponents and we
have to correct that. We are starting the correction as from tomorrow morning.
“I thank the Nigeria Football Federation for making us to
participate in the competition and our appreciation also goes to Samson, who
has been organizing the Copa Lagos which has been serving as our only preparations
whenever we are going for tournaments,” Adamu told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
