THE management and
players of reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Plateau
United Football Club of Jos arrived Lagos on Thursday ahead of their CAF
Confederation Cup first leg play-off tie against USM Alger of Algeria billed
for Agege Stadium on Saturday.
The Media Officer of
the club, Albert Dakup informed Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com that Coach Kennedy
Boboye who touched down at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport aboard Arik Airline, will be parading his strongest squad in the encounter.
According to Dakup,
all the team’s key players are fully fit and are in high spirit ahead of the
match.
Dakup explained that
even those who returned from injury such as Raphael Ayagwa, Ogene Elijah,
Okiemute Odah, Sunday Ngbede and Daniel Itodo are in good shape ahead of the
continental tie.
This development
which is a positive one for the club as that will give the technical crew many
options as they come up with the line-up for the crucial encounter.
One of such players
whose return was greeted with jubilation is Raphael Ayagwa as his absence was
greatly felt during the return leg of the CAF Champions League tie against
Etoile Du Sahel in Kano.
Although, Plateau
United don't rely on a particular player to deliver the goods, his absence was
obvious as the team missed his defence split passes and goals.
Another player whose
return is a sign of relieve to the team is Daniel Itodo who played his first
match of the season against Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu last week.
The long throw
specialist sustained an injury while on national assignment at the CHAN
Championship in Morocco early this year which ruled him out of the remaining
matches of the tournament and the start of the league for his club.
