CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Plateau Utd depart for Cameroon on Monday

NIGERIA‘S CAF Champions League representative, Plateau United will depart the shores of the country for Cameroon on Monday for the second leg of their preliminary stage clash against Eding Sport FC De La Lekie scheduled to hold at the Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaoundé on Wednesday, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.


The reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions put up a good show in the first leg last weekend scoring three unreplied goals against the Cameroonian club at the New Jos Stadium last weekend.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the contingent made up of 19 players, seven technical crew members and five management members will leave Jos by 11 am on Sunday aboard Arik Airline for Lagos before departing for Cameroon via Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos via Ivorian Airline on Monday.

Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup informed Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com that the 2018 African Nations Championship silver medal winning Super Eagles duo of goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Itodo were not included in the squad for tactical reasons.

“We will be in Lagos on Sunday and will be having a light training at the Agege Stadium on Monday morning before traveling to Cameroon by 4.30pm for our match on Wednesday.

“The team is highly motivated for the encounter and the players are in high spirit. Goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Itodo will not be traveling with the team, even though they have resumed training with the team after their national team assignment. They are not included for tactical reasons,” Dakup told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
