CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Nigerian envoy charges Plateau Utd to beat Etoile

THE Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Cameroon, Ambassador Lawal Gashagar has commended the management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos for doing the nation proud by qualifying for the second round of the CAF Champions League.


Ambassador Gashagar made the commendation at an elaborate dinner organised in honour of the victorious team held at the Nigeria embassy in Yaounde.

The Nigerian envoy, who expressed delight with the performance of the team, challenged them to continue with the feat as they confront Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia in the second of the competition.

General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan who was elated with the rare honour done to the team and the people of plateau stated assured the Ambassador that the team will continue to do its best as they progressed in the competition.

Henwan appreciated the Embassy for the cooperation and support rendered the team describing it as one of the motivating factor that gingered towards victory.

Captain of the team, Golbe Elisha who responded on behalf of the players thanked Ambassador Gashagar for the suptious dinner and promised that they will be good ambassador of the state and Nigeria.

It will be recalled that Plateau United defeated Eding Sports of Cameroon 1-0 in Yaounde to qualify 4-0 on aggregate as they face Tunisian giants Etoile Du Sahel in a fortnight.
