PLATEAU United striker, Sunday Adetunji has terminated his contract with the Nigeria Professional Football League side, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
A reliable source in the club revealed that Adetunji who
joined the Peace Boys in August, failed to make any impact due to what he term
personal issues.
It was gathered that the former Abia Warriors of Umuahia
prolific striker, who had a short stint abroad before joining Plateau United,
is having serious issues with his agent who was not obviously happy with him
for joining the Jos-based side.
“Sunday Adetunji terminated his contract by mutual
consent after he told the head coach that he can't continue with the club
because he doesn't want to spoil the coach’s job and put his own reputation at
stake.
“The coach who was surprised with the boy's courage, did
not object to his decision which was subsequently forwarded to management and a
mutual consent was agreed,” the source told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
The striker who only featured for the Jos based side
twice in the CAF Champions League first leg, first round tie against Simba of
Tanzania and against Kwara United in the league opener was a shadow of his old
self as he failed to make any meaningful contributions in the two matches he
played.
It was also gathered that his agent pressurized him to
terminate the contract after he secured a foreign club for him in Europe with
the winter transfer window gradually rounding up.
