NIGERIA international Henry Onyekuru has joined Turkish club Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The Super Eagles striker underwent
his medicals at the club’s Medical Park hospital before putting pen to paper with
the Turkish giant prior to his unveiling. He will wear the number 7 jersey at
the club.
“Welcome home, Henry Onyekuru. An agreement was reached with Henry Onyekuru and his club AS Monaco on the temporary transfer of the player for the 2020-2021 season. Onyekuru, will wear the numbered 7 jersey,” the club announced via its Twitter handle.
Having impressed in his third season with K.A.S. Eupen where he finished the 2016-17 Belgian First Division A campaign as joint top-scorer with 22 goals, the Nigerian was snapped up by Everton for £7 million in 2017.
However, he was immediately loaned to Anderlecht following his inability to secure a work permit which would have seen him realise his dream of playing in the Premier League.
After completing loan spells in Belgium and Galatasaray – where he won the 2018-19 Turkish Super Lig title, he was sold permanently to Ligue 1 giants Monaco in the summer of 2019 where he had struggled to find his feet.
