Lobi Stars hit Port Harcourt for Wike Pre-season tourney

NIGERIA Professional Football League side Lobi Stars Football Club landed in Port Harcourt on Thursday  ahead of the 2020 Governor Nyesom Wike Pre-season tournament, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

The coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo side joined other clubs including Enyimba, Rivers United, Akwa United, Abia Warriors, Nasarawa United, Kwara United, MFM FC, Bayelsa United, Niger Tornadoes, Plateau United, Cynosure FC, Udala FC, Ottafolo FC, Goddosky FC, among others for the tournament scheduled to kick off on November 6 at the Sharks Stadium.


The management, staff and players of Lobi Stars have been in isolation training camp in Gboko shortly after they took COVID- 19 test in the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Isolation Centre achieving 100% clean bill of health. 

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com on Wednesday, the club Media Officer, Austin Tyowua revealed that the low keyed camping was rounded off with spiritual and philanthropic events. 

“We just ended our camping with dedication service held at Dunamis Church in Makurdi this evening. The team had visited St. Michael's Rectory Ameladu, in the suburb of Gboko where the Fire brand Rev Fr Emmanuel Asue presides for Thanksgiving Service last Sunday.

“Then the following day, 2nd November, the club paid a philanthropic visit to NKST Foundation Orphanage Mkar, another suburb of Gboko to donate food items and other daily needs to the orphans and also lift their spirit by identifying with them. The team leader and General Coordinator, Sam Aindigh on behalf of the executive Vice Chairman, Mike Idoko disclose to the orphans and the management of the orphanage that, it is typical of the club to give back in form of corporate social responsibility anywhere they encamp ahead of the season in the same manner of the visit. 

“So we will leave Gboko for Port Harcourt very ealy tomorrow (Thursday). We will be in Port Harcourt till around 14th or 15th. We have pre-season invitations from Akure, Ilorin, Ugheli and Ijebu-Ode but as it is we cannot attend all. So from the Wike Tourney, we will take a decision on the next line of action as we are also taking into consideration the league kick off date of November 29 which fast approaching,” Tyowua told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com
