ENYIMBA FC defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 in the final to emerge champions of the maiden edition of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Pre-Season Tournament in Abia State.
The game started with the LOC Chairman Ugochukwu Onosike performed the ceremonial kick-off.
The People’s elephant had the first ten minutes controlling the whole show with complete team work which resulted to creating some chances but were not utilized properly.
Abia Warriors on the other hand tried creating some chances as well but Kayode Olufemi was there to save those dangerous balls.
The two-time Africa Champions had their break from a run by Tosin Omoyele in the box which resulted to a penalty and the captain of the team Austin Oladapo made no mistake by sending Ojo Olorunleke the wrong way in the 45th minutes.
Abia warriors Paul Samson hit a woodwork at the 63rd minutes which could have been a leveller.
The Umuahia warriors continued mounting pressure trying hard to see if they might get an equaliser but the Enyimba FC defenders were on alerts throughout the game.
The game ended 1 - 0 and Enyimba FC were crowned Champions of the maiden edition of the Governor Ikpeazu Pre-Season Tournament.
