Leganes 0-3 Sevilla: Omeruo injured

By Akeem Lawal
SUPER Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo may be out for some time after suffering an injury during CD Leganes’ 3-0 loss to Sevilla in LaLiga Game week 33 at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Tuesday.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the Nigeria international was in action for just seven minutes in his third game since the Spanish league returned from the Covid-19 break last month, before he was replaced by compatriot Chidozie Awaziem.

Midfielder Oliver Torres scored twice before the interval to give Julen Lopetegui’s side control while forward Munir El Haddadi rounded off the scoring late on to crown Sevilla’s first win in five matches, having drawn their last four fixtures.

Even though the extent of the injury is not yet know, the 26-year-old might be forced to sit out of Leganes’ next match against fellow relegation battlers Espanyol.

Injury to Omeruo who has featured in 22 games in total this season, will no doubt be a bad news for Leganes who edged closer to being relegated for the first time since reaching the top flight in 2016 as they are nine points from escaping the relegation zone with only 15 points left to fight for.
