NIGERIA international Kelechi Iheanacho was denied his sixth Premier League goal of the season after his goal was ruled out in Leicester City’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the Gunners ahead midway through the first half and, following a period of pressure, City hit back through Jamie Vardy's 22nd top-flight goal of 2019/20.
Playing his 115th Premier League match, Iheanacho came close in the 12th minute but his low drilled strike just at the edge of the box was kept out by the Arsenal keeper Emiliano Martinez’s feet.
Aubameyang gave Gunners the lead in the 21st minute and the Nigerian striker thought he had equalized for his side after tapping home a low Vardy cross. His goal was however ruled out as he was quickly penalised for fouling Sead Kolasinac in the build up.
He was however replaced in the 59th minute by Harvey Barnes.
The Nigeria international has scored five goals in 16 league appearances for the former Premier League champions this season.
The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner now failed to score in three consecutive matches, having found the net in his team’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last week Wednesday and scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat of Crystal Palace.
Iheanacho’s compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi who made his Premier League 27th appearances on the night was however in action for the Roger’s side throughout the encounter.
Mikel Arteta's side looked set to make it four league wins on the spin but Vardy's late goal salvaged a 1-1 draw for Leicester.
Yet, just four minutes after coming on, substitute Eddie Nketiah received his marching orders for a rash tackle on James Justin – referee Chris Kavanagh consulting VAR to deem the youngster's tackle worthy of a straight red.
And Leicester made their numerical advantage count with six minutes remaining – Vardy's goal standing after a long VAR check for offside as the Foxes claimed a valuable point.
