RIVERS United coach, Stanley Eguma says his team is not
under pressure as they prepare for the new season which is expected to kickoff
in December.
Eguma whose team has picked six points at the Gold
Cup Tourney, after defeating Nationwide League One side, Almar FC by a lone goal and Phoenix ASC 2-1.
Speaking after the game against Almar, Eguma said, "We're not under any pressure, yes the December
kickoff date is close but on our part, we maximizing time to prepare the team
for the new season.
"The pre-season tourney has exposed the players I
brought to Akure.
"We came with about 50 players and out of whom I
have given them a chance by starting two different squads in the two we have
played.
"With the matches played so far, I have got an idea
of the quality some of these players have.
"Many want to play for Rivers United, but they forget
that the team is about quality.
"It's now time for me to take a decision on them as they are lacking this ingredient.
"Rivers United is about quality, so only the best can
wear the team's colours.
"I want to give kudos to the organisers of the Gold
Cup Tourney for staging this quality pre-season."
