Gold Cup: Kwara Utd, Cynosure FC book semifinal spot

KWARA United and Cynosure FC have qualified for the semi final stage of the ongoing 2018 Gold Cup preseason tournament, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.


The Harmony Warriors defeated Remo Stars 2-1 in one of the Group A match decided at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure.

Peter Momoh opened scoring with a stunning long range shot that beats James Faith in goal for Remo Stars in the 8th minute before Segun Alebiosu added to the tally two minutes later, his third goal of the tournament.


Ekene Awazie however reduced the deficit for Remo Stars by converting from the spot in the 48th minute.

Nationwide League One side Cynosure FC on the other hand defeated FC Ebedei 2-0 with goals from Solomon Chidozie (2’) and Ogar David (5’).


Rivers United defeated Almar FC 1-0, while in the last match of the day Tayo Fabiyi’s 62nd minute strike gave Sunshine Stars the much needed victory over MFM FC.


In Sunday’s fixtures, Sunshine Stars will slug it out with FC Ebedei by 8 am, while Almar FC will slug it out with Remo Stars by 10 am before Phoenix play Rivers United in the last match of the day by 4 pm.
