By Akeem Lawal
FORMER Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) midfielder, Adeshina Issa Gata has disclosed to SportingLife that he chose to join Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Akwa United so as to continue his football development.

The 19 year old who was on the shopping list of several top clubs including seven-time Nigeria champions Enyimba, Sunshine Stars and Kano Pillars, told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com that he was fascinated by the ambition and style of play of the 2017 Aiteo Cup champions.

“I am at Akwa United right now and we will begin training on Wednesday. Though I’m yet to sign the contract, I’m optimistic that the deal will be concluded as soon as possible.

“I got offers from Enyimba and Sunshine Stars but the offer Akwa United put forward was better than the rest. The team has proved that they are ambitious and I can easily adapt to their style of play. I have so much respect for coach ‎Abdu Maikaba and I am looking forward continue my football development under him.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the management of ABS, the coaching staff, players and the supporters for the memorable time I spent with the team. ABS fans are the best in the country. They stood by us through thick and thin. They don’t cause trouble even when result was not going our way,” Gata told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
