2016 AWCON: Oparanozie laments, shares her experience in Dakar

Super Falcons striker,  Desire Oparanozie has narrated the team’s experience during the first leg of their 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Senegal last Friday in Dakar.

The match played at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, Dakar saw the Nigerian Women Football team held to a 1-1 draw with the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

Oparanozie suffered an injury after being hit on her forehead by a Senegal player in the 30th minute and had to be driven to the hospital where she was stitched on the head.

The 22 year old striker wondered why the Center referee, Lamyaa Lourarhi of Morocco failed to issue any card to the player for the tackle.

Oparanozie who plies her trade for Guingamp of the French Division 1 Féminine posted a picture of her plastered forehead on her Instagram page expressing her concern on female football in Africa.

“I feel pity for @CAF_Online and African football in general.  It’s such a shame that referees are being used to manipulate games.

“ Who would have believed there is no caution for this injury let alone a sent off… would you believe if I told you I was standing on my feet when this happened? Those were boots studs (soft) raised as high as my height… all the way to my forehead, leaving me with four (4) different cuts and there is no form of caution whatsoever.
“Or am I to complain of the substance (July)  sprinkling on the pitch while game was on which the  Moroccan referee Lamyaa Lourarhi did nothing about even after series of complaints. In this new age?
“African football is indeed in deep shambles. It’s just so unfortunate I happened to be the scapegoat this time, it is well.
While thanking her fans for the support, the year old player however assured Nigerians that the team will qualify for the 2016 African Women Championship in Cameroon later this year.

“Thanks to you all for your support, and to many that called and sent in messages… I sincerely appreciate. Nothing is gonna stop us from qualifying, and when I say nothing… I mean NOTHING! #VivaSuperFalconsOfNigeria #GodPassThem”, she assured.
