NIGERIA international Victor Osimhen has bidded farewell to former Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso was sacked by the Serie A club after narrowly missing out on the Champions League football next season.

The 26-year-old posted farewell messages on his Instagram page to the man he said was instrumental to his all round development.

“You have been instrumental towards my development, not just as a player but also as a man.

“I really appreciate all you do for me on and off the pitch, I admired you as a player and to be able to work under you and call you my BOSS is something I will never forget in a rush. I hold you on high esteem forever.

“I wish you all the very best on your new adventure BOSS,” Osimhen said.

The Super Eagles forward arrived at Napoli last summer, but struggled with injuries and coronavirus during his first season at the Partenopei.

However, the 22-year-old made an impact with his 10 goals in 24 League games and showed great potential when he was in shape.

Gattuso was the coach that greeted him in Naples, but the former Milan tactician leaves the Azzurri after one and a half years at the helm.

The former World Cup winner was on the bench for the last time when the Azzurri’s played out a frustrating 1-1 against Hellas Verona at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday.

The result however wasn’t enough to guarantee them a champions league qualification for next season.
